Municipal Capital Appreciation Partners (MCAP) employs highly experienced private equity professionals who target investing in: 1) real estate that can be refinanced with municipal bonds, and 2) distressed, defaulted and non-rated municipal revenue bonds secured by real estate.
Since its inception in 1996, the MCAP Funds have invested over $1 billion in senior living communities, multifamily properties, affordable housing and tax credit related investments. The MCAP Funds have invested over $800 million to purchase, restructure, refinance and/or develop more than 4,000 senior living community units. The balance of investments include low-to-moderate income housing, low-income housing tax credits, 9,500 multifamily housing units nationwide.
The experienced team that manages the MCAP Funds currently oversees:
- The ownership and/or management of 18 senior living communities with a combined capacity of 1,600 residents in five states
- The ownership and operation of 489 multifamily units, including two tax credit partnerships, in two states
- MCAP Advisers LLC also serves as the investor representative for approximately $59 million of Preferred Equity in a 20 communities senior living portfolio previously owned by the MCAP Funds
